Israeli Army Announces Next Phase of War May Differ from Expectations

The Israeli army is preparing for the next phase of its campaign against the Gaza Strip, but its plans may not align with widespread expectations of an imminent ground assault, said Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht on Tuesday, as reported by Reuters.

“We are preparing for the next phases of the war. We haven't said what those will be. Everyone is talking about a ground assault. It could be something different,” Hecht said during a press briefing.

It is noteworthy that on the morning of October 7, Israel was subjected to an unprecedented missile attack from the Gaza Strip. The IDF's press service reported that extremists fired more than 3,000 rockets. Additionally, dozens of terrorists infiltrated border areas in southern Israel. The military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement announced that it is conducting an operation against Israel called “Al Aqsa Flood.” The IDF also announced the launch of Operation “Iron Swords” against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
