EU Launches First Joint Field Exercises in Its History

The European Union has commenced its first-ever joint field exercises, dubbed MILEX 23, according to RT.

“These will also include amphibious landing exercises,” said Josep Borrell, head of the EU's foreign policy service. He noted that the experience from these exercises could be utilized to respond to the ongoing conflict in Israel.

On October 16, the second phase of the EU MILEX 23 exercises began, focused on crisis management. This segment of the exercises is called Live Exercise (LIVEX) and is taking place in Spain's Cadiz province.

According to the EU's diplomatic service, 31 military units from nine member states of the alliance are participating in the exercises. Specifically, 1,800 soldiers from Spain, 600 from France, and 200 from Portugal are involved.

It is reported that the goal of MILEX 23 is to enhance the EU's military preparedness to respond to external conflicts and crises.
