Court Hearing for Serzh Sargsyan and Others Underway

Today, October 17, at the Avan and Nor Nork court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan, under the chairmanship of Judge Vahe Misakyan, the court hearing for the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, and others is taking place.

It should be noted that the questioning phase of the defendants in the case has already been completed.

Recall that according to the indictment, with the organization of Serzh Sargsyan and under the incitement of Barsegh Beglaryan, with the assistance of Samvel Galstyan and Gevorg Harutyunyan, a significant sum of 489,160,310 Armenian drams was misappropriated from the government's reserve fund intended for the realization of state support programs during the period from January 25 to February 7, 2013, involving the provision of a subsidy for the sale of 15,391,765 liters of diesel fuel.

Serzh Sargsyan is charged under the first part of the third section of Article 38-179 of the RA Criminal Code for misappropriating or embezzling particularly large amounts. The third president does not accept the charges brought against him, and his defenders describe this process as political persecution.
