Armenia Has Never Agreed to Provide a Corridor, No Such Promise Has Been Made: Prime Minister
The President of Azerbaijan continuously insists that Armenia is obliged to provide a corridor through its territory to Azerbaijan, stated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his speech at the European Parliament.
The Prime Minister pointed out that in international discourse, when referring to a corridor, it usually means inter-state roads, but there is a peculiarity in our region.
Pashinyan reminded that the statement of November 9 only mentions one corridor - the Lachin corridor, which was supposed to secure the connection between Armenia and Artsakh.
“The Republic of Armenia has never agreed to any limitation of its sovereignty and authority over its territory anywhere. No such promise has been made,” Pashinyan asserted from the podium of the European Parliament.
Instead, according to Pashinyan, Armenia and Azerbaijan should open their roads based on their sovereignty and authority without a corridor, where border crossing points should operate.
“The President of Azerbaijan does not mention the recognition of Armenia's 29,800 km². This raises concerns and provides grounds for some analysts that he is deliberately leaving ambiguities to make territorial claims against Armenia,” he noted.
