Human Rights Defender and EC Representative Discuss Rights Protection for Displaced Persons from Artsakh

The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Anahit Manasyan, presented issues regarding the protection of the rights of individuals forcibly displaced from Artsakh due to Azerbaijani aggression to Leila Khayajik, the special representative of the European Council on Migration and Refugees.

This was mentioned in a statement from the Defender's press service. The Defender also emphasized the necessity of assessing and addressing the needs of forcibly displaced persons in the context of awareness-raising activities aimed at protecting their rights.

"The Defender presented information to the special representative of the Council of Europe regarding Azerbaijan’s policies of hate towards Armenians, which manifest and are encouraged at various levels of the state," the statement reads.

The parties discussed the possibilities of programmatic cooperation with the Council of Europe in the direction of protecting the rights of forcibly displaced persons.
