Have Discussions Taken Place Regarding the Future Activities of Artsakh State University?
No separate discussions have taken place regarding any educational institution; our priority is to restore the right to education for students who have interrupted their studies due to forced displacement from Nagorno-Karabakh. This was stated by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan during a briefing with journalists on October 12.
She responded to the question of whether discussions have occurred regarding the future activities of Artsakh State University. "A decision was made in today’s government meeting, whereby we will allocate scholarships to students, and all students from universities, colleges, and vocational schools will have the opportunity to continue their education. More than 500 students have already applied to our universities, and several hundred have applied regarding colleges and vocational schools. I am confident that we will be able to ensure everyone's education in a short period of time," she said.
Regarding the future of lecturers and teachers, the minister noted: "At this moment, our priority is to discuss the placement of teachers in jobs, and one of the decisions from the government meeting confirmed the opportunity for teachers to join our institutions without a competition, along with a possible salary supplement. In certain communities in the Syunik, Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik, and Tavush regions, teachers will receive a fixed monthly amount of 50,000 drams in addition to the 30 percent salary increase."
It should be noted that earlier, we had also reported that forcibly displaced teachers would receive a 30 percent increase in addition to their salary.
