Egypt's Foreign Ministry Calls on Israel to Cease Attacks on Palestinian Side of Rafah Crossing

Egypt's Foreign Ministry has urged Israel to stop its attacks on the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, located between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, in order for it to be reopened, reports Israeli Channel 12.

The crossing has been closed since Israel struck it on Tuesday afternoon, completely sealing off the Gaza Strip and preventing food or fuel from entering.

Egypt claims it has not closed its part of the crossing and is calling on all countries in the region and international organizations to provide humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza through El Arish airport in northern Sinai, which is located about 56 kilometers from the Rafah crossing.

Jordan has sent a humanitarian aid shipment to Egypt intended for the Gaza Strip, according to the New York Times, but it remains unclear whether aid will be allowed to reach the coastal enclave.
