Egypt Does Not Wish to Open Corridor for Gaza Refugees: Media

Egypt does not wish to open a corridor for refugees from the Gaza Strip, insisting that both sides remain within their own borders. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post.

"Egypt refuses to consider any steps to create safe corridors for those fleeing the enclave," the media outlet writes. The government asserts that the parties should resolve the conflict within their own borders, which they believe is the only way forward.

According to the publication, Egypt seeks to protect the rights of Palestinians to defend their land and interests. At the same time, Axios reports that Egyptian authorities are willing to open a route for foreign nationals in the Gaza Strip.

Previously, it was reported that against the backdrop of the Israeli conflict, the EU insists on the need to create corridors for refugees. Egyptian authorities closed the Rafah border crossing on October 10, which had become the main point of exit from the Gaza Strip to the Sinai Peninsula. It can only operate for the delivery of humanitarian aid, food, and medicine.
