Clarification Provided Regarding Albert Bazeyan's 'Isolation from the Outside World'

The Penal Enforcement Service has provided clarification regarding the publication about Albert Bazeyan's alleged 'isolation from the outside world'.

“Today, on October 12, an article was published in the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper, stating, ‘... Former Yerevan mayor Albert Bazeyan is kept in a solitary cell in Nubarashen prison, and his connection to the outside world has been cut off... Albert Bazeyan has submitted a request to the prison administration to provide him with a newspaper, as is done for other inmates, or a television, but there has been no response to his request...’,” the Penal Enforcement Service reports.

In connection with the above, the Penal Enforcement Service informs that on September 28 of this year, Albert Bazeyan submitted a request to the head of the 'Nubarashen' penitentiary institution, asking to receive a television that would be brought by a relative. His request was approved according to established procedures, and on October 10, Albert Bazeyan's son delivered the television to the penitentiary, which was accepted in accordance with the rules and transferred to the detained individual Albert Bazeyan.

As for the provision of newspapers, it is clarified that penal institutions do not receive periodicals. Detainees or convicts can acquire periodicals at their own expense and submit a request to the head of the penal institution for this purpose. Albert Bazeyan has never verbally or in writing requested the staff of the 'Nubarashen' penitentiary institution to obtain newspapers,” the publication states.
