We Are Not Discussing Whether Russian Border Troops and the 102nd Military Base Will Stay or Not: Prime Minister
If Russian peacekeepers leave, it is of fundamental importance for Armenia whether they depart via Armenia or Azerbaijan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on Public Television. "There is absolutely no legal basis or justification for their presence in the Republic of Armenia, and there cannot be," the Prime Minister said.
Addressing the issue of the Russian border troops and the 102nd military base staying in Armenia, the Prime Minister noted that the bases have very clear grounds for remaining, which continue to exist, and that Armenia and Russia are not raising such questions. "Not all issues are interconnected," Pashinyan added.
He also spoke about the upcoming meeting planned in Brussels. "In Granada, through the EU platform, the principles were recorded. The Brussels meeting should take place within the framework of those principles. When Azerbaijan tries to propose another platform, it wants to abolish the already agreed-upon principles," the Prime Minister stated.
