Sasun Khachatryan's Brother to Take on New Position: 'Hraparak'
The appointment of David Khachatryan, the brother of Anti-Corruption Committee Chairman Sasun Khachatryan, appears to be on the horizon. He is expected to be transferred from the Judicial Supreme Council (JSC) to the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court. This information has been reported by 'Hraparak'.
The National Assembly is set to elect a judge soon, and one of the three candidates proposed is David Khachatryan, who has been a member of the JSC since 2021 and aspired to the position of JSC Chairman. However, he did not receive the necessary approval from higher authorities, as the role was assigned to Karen Andreasyan.
According to sources from 'Hraparak', there have been strained relations between Andreasyan and Khachatryan for about two years, with recurring rumors that Khachatryan may submit his resignation.
It should also be noted that the other two candidates for the vacant position in the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court are lawyer Anahit Hakobyan and first instance judge Manvel Shahverdyan from Yerevan. These nominations are largely formal as the law requires the proposal of at least three candidates, while the other two are referred to as 'pravadniks'.
