France and the EU Recognize Palestinian Hamas Group as a Terrorist Organization

France and the European Union have classified the Palestinian radical group Hamas, whose militants invaded Israel last week, as a terrorist organization. This was announced by French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne while addressing the National Assembly (the lower house of Parliament).

"Hamas is a terrorist group, and this is recognized by France and the EU," Borne said, adding that terrorism and barbarism have no justification.

She also emphasized that no euro from France should "fall into the hands of terrorists." The head of the cabinet noted that Paris advocates for a long-term peaceful settlement in the Middle East, but admitted that "it will take a lot of time."
