On October 9, at 21:33, the crisis management center of the Kotayk regional rescue service received a report that there had been a gas leak from a gas cylinder at the entrance of one of the apartments on the 4th floor of building No. 1 on Yerevan Street in Abovyan, leading to a fire outbreak.

Two fire-fighting units and one aerial ladder from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' regional rescue service were dispatched to the scene. It was determined that gas had leaked from a gas cylinder in one of the apartments, causing the fire. Citizens managed to carry the burning gas cylinder outside to the entrance.

Rescue teams evacuated 70 residents from the building and relocated them to a safe area. Residents M. G. (born in 1959), T. G. (born in 2007), and K. I. (born in 1962) were hospitalized. Subsequently, residents T. M. (born in 1960), M. M. (born in 1967), and M. M. (born in 1991) sought medical attention at a healthcare center, where the injured received appropriate treatment and were later discharged.

The fire was contained at 22:02 and extinguished by 22:50. The entrance to three apartments and household items were burned in the incident.
