US to Send More Fighter Jets to the Middle East to Counter 'Iranian Aggression', CNN Reports

The United States is set to deploy approximately 20-25 F-35 and F-15 fighter jets in the Middle East, according to a source cited by CNN. The aim is to deter any aggression or military operations by Iran outside of Israel.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin had previously directed an increase in the numbers of F-35, F-15, F-16, and A-10 fighter jets in the region. This decision comes against the backdrop of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.

Additionally, Washington has sent an aircraft carrier group to the Eastern Mediterranean to strengthen deterrent positions as necessary.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas erupted on the morning of October 7, following an attack with hundreds of rockets on Israeli territory. Hamas militants have taken control of several settlements. Hundreds have been killed, and thousands have been injured.
