Iran's Intelligence Services Helped Hamas Organize Attack on Israel: WSJ
Iran's intelligence services have assisted militants from the Palestinian Hamas movement in planning an attack against Israel, reports The Wall Street Journal, citing its own sources.
According to Hamas and senior Hezbollah representatives, Iranian intelligence gave the "green light" for the attack during a meeting in Beirut with militia members on Monday, October 2.
WSJ's sources claim that officers from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have been collaborating with Hamas since August to devise plans for an aerial, ground, and naval incursion into Israel.
Details of the operation were finalized with representatives from four Iran-backed groups, including Hamas and Hezbollah. An official from Europe and a Syrian government advisor have also confirmed the involvement of Iran in the organization of the attack on Israel.
Senior Hamas official Mahmoud Mirdavin stated that the group independently planned the attack.
