Since the start of military operations by the Palestinian Hamas movement, at least 40 people have been killed, and 740 others have been injured, according to Israeli media citing medical establishments.

In the Gaza Strip, 161 Palestinians have died, and another 931 have been wounded, reports the Al-Hadath television channel.

The Palestinian Hamas movement launched the largest assault on Israel in recent years on October 7, firing rockets from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli territory. Hamas militants infiltrated Israeli territory using paragliders and pick-up trucks.

A state of emergency has been declared in Israel, and mobilization has been announced. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Hamas has started a war against Israel and will face the harshest response.
