Israeli Airstrikes on Gaza: Israel Announces Start of 'Counter-Terrorism Operation'
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has announced the start of a 'counter-terrorism operation' in response to attacks from radical Hamas in the Gaza Strip, as reported by RIA Novosti.
According to an IDF spokesperson, the operation against the Hamas terrorist organization has been named 'Iron Claws.' New footage of Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip has been released, with updates being provided periodically.
The rocket attacks from Gaza towards Israel began in the morning, with around 5,000 rockets and shells launched in the first 20 minutes of the operation. The IDF has reported a 'state of combat readiness' due to infiltrations from militants in border regions adjacent to Gaza.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Hamas made a 'serious mistake' by launching a sudden attack on Israel. 'The State of Israel will win this war,' he added.
According to media reports, over 100 people have been injured due to the rocket fire from Gaza, and at least 6 casualties have been reported.
