Russia to Supply Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Based on Yerevan's Request
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement regarding the humanitarian assistance being sent to Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. The statement specifically notes: “We continue our consistent efforts to provide comprehensive support to Armenia and the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh.”
In response to the Armenian leadership's request, Russia has begun supplying essential petroleum products to the republic. This includes 15,000 tons of gasoline and 20,000 tons of diesel fuel. According to information from partners, the situation in this sector in Armenia is challenging. The country has nearly exhausted the balance approved for the current year, with the autumn-winter period ahead. Russia's support will be timely and beneficial.
Despite the temporary ban on the export of commercial gasoline and diesel fuel from our country imposed by the Russian government on September 21, the Russian side has responded to its allies within the framework of the intergovernmental agreement signed in December 2013.
In addition to the assistance provided through the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Response Center, and considering the briefing from the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 2, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has taken into account the requests from its partners to provide humanitarian aid. Together with the “Rosrezerv,” a primary list of products has already been formed, which can be sent to the republic in the coming days.
Next week, Russian diplomats, led by Ambassador S.P. Kopirkin, will visit the Syunik province to work with local authorities to assess immediate needs. This work will continue in other regions where displaced persons are located.
