Russia Begins Work to Open Consulate in Kapan

Russia is set to open a consulate in Syunik region, marking a new step towards the development of cooperation. On October 5, 2023, a meeting took place in Meghri between the head of the advance group for the opening of Russia's consulate in Kapan and the mayor of Meghri. This was reported by the Russian Embassy in Armenia.

“The prospects for the earliest possible opening of a new consular office in the Syunik region were discussed, which will significantly simplify access to consular services for Russian citizens residing in southern Armenia. Additionally, it was noted that the new consulate would contribute to the further strengthening of Russian-Armenian relations and the stabilization of the situation in the region, as well as promote the expansion of cultural, humanitarian, trade, economic, and interregional cooperation,” the statement said.
