Pashinyan Urgently Talks to Ambassador in Russia
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has held an urgent conversation with the Armenian Ambassador to Russia, former Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan, demanding clarity on whom former Minister of Defense Arshak Karapetyan enjoys sponsorship from in Russia, what plans are outlined, and what can be expected. This information was reported by the daily newspaper "Zhamanak."
According to the publication, Pashinyan's political authority was taken by surprise by the political bid presented by former Minister of Defense Arshak Karapetyan. "They considered the topic of Arshak Karapetyan closed and had already forgotten that after unexpectedly dismissing one of the ministers, certain events might unfold," the media writes.
The newspaper notes that Arshak Karapetyan made clear accusations against Nikol Pashinyan, stating that he did not obey Pashinyan's order not to shoot and that during enemy attacks he gave the command for a harsh response, after which he was unexpectedly dismissed by Pashinyan.
"Of course, it cannot be ruled out that everything happened as such, because yesterday Pashinyan's teammates could not firmly refute Karapetyan's arguments during parliamentary briefings. Pashinyan has yet to deny it. It is also puzzling that Karapetyan, who held various positions in the Ministry of Defense during the previous administrations, did not speak out until now," writes "Zhoghovurd."
According to the newspaper, Arshak Karapetyan was the person who opened doors for Nikol Pashinyan's revolutionary government to the Russian military-political elite, convincing Russians that Pashinyan and his allies are not "Soros-backed," as they suspected, and that it is worthwhile to work with young revolutionaries. Now he has come out against Pashinyan's authority.
