New Patrol Boats Donated by Russia Launched in Lake Sevan
On October 6, patrol service motorboats were launched into Lake Sevan. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, the ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aram Hovhannisyan, Russian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Sergey Kopirkin, Secretary General of the Ministry Ara Fidanyan, and leaders of the police and patrol service.
Emphasizing the contribution to the technical enhancement of the water patrol service, Aram Hovhannisyan expressed gratitude to the Russian ambassador for the support.
Ambassador Sergey Kopirkin highlighted the effective collaboration between the interior ministries of the two countries and expressed hope that the operation of water craft in Lake Sevan will enable patrol officers to perform their duties more effectively.
Ara Fidanyan stressed the necessity of watercraft both in providing assistance to citizens in the Lake Sevan and coastal areas, as well as in preventing, deterring, and disrupting criminal activities.
The attendees toured the lake on the boats, familiarizing themselves with the capabilities and equipment of the vessels. They are equipped with modern technical devices and means necessary for conducting water patrol service. The motorboats are ready to operate in any weather conditions.
It is noteworthy that on September 5, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs donated motor boats and service dogs to the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs, which will assist in fulfilling the operational tasks of the Armenian police units. Alongside this, training is also underway for the launch of water patrol services in Lake Sevan scheduled for December.
