VIDEO: A Citizen Damaged the City Hall's Tractor with a Tractor in Silikyan Neighborhood
The spokesperson for the Mayor of Yerevan, Hayk Kostanyan, wrote on his Facebook page: “By the appropriate decisions of the Mayor, construction works involving a concrete foundation and stone masonry have been carried out without the right to land use and without the relevant permits on the land belonging to the Yerevan community in the Silikyan neighborhood of the Ajapnyak community, specifically on 9th Street and the area adjacent to the cemetery. Furthermore, the land burdened by this construction has been used illegally, as there are no rights formally established according to the law of the Republic of Armenia regarding this land. The demolition works for 21 structures commenced today and are ongoing.
The demolition works have taken place under evident poor treatment towards the employees of the municipality managing the illegal structures. Citizens have also applied violence against a city hall employee and damaged city hall property. All illegal constructions were built during the pre-election period. The municipality's stance is that any illegal actions will be met with the harshest methods. The Yerevan Municipality urges everyone to respect the law and refrain from actions that violate public interests.”
