Armenia Appeals to ECHR Demanding Immediate Release of Former and Current Leaders of Artsakh

On October 4, 2023, Armenia, through its representative on international legal matters, appealed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) based on Rule 39 of the Court's Rules, requesting protection of the rights of all representatives of the former and current leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh, guaranteed by Articles 2 and 3 of the European Convention. The appeal also demands that Azerbaijan be compelled to immediately release them.

The representative, citing various videos circulating on social media, also requested the Court to obligate Azerbaijan to provide information about the military captives and civilians under its control and to supply complete data regarding them.

Earlier, Azerbaijan had submitted information to the Court regarding Ruben Vardanyan, which was then communicated to his close relatives.

Note: Upon receiving information from the European Court of Human Rights regarding individuals, it is forwarded to their relatives.
