Zakhrova Comments on Aliyev's Decision to Cancel Meeting in Granada
“Every country has the right to determine its steps; in this case, as far as we understand, it concerns a meeting to which we are not participating. Therefore, I do not find it necessary to comment on the decisions of the parties,” said Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressing the reports regarding Aliyev's refusal to attend the meeting scheduled for October 5 in Granada.
“Baku regularly comments on its actions; therefore, such questions, I believe, should be directed to the Azerbaijani side,” she added.
In this context, Zakharova stated that Russia's mediating role has been practical, based on three documents and taking into account all the details—existing realities, history, and the future. “Another question is that Western partners were involved, who tried to gain benefit from this situation,” she noted.
