UN Prepares to Cancel Its Recent Mission Conclusions in Artsakh: Mirzoyan

The UN is preparing a statement which will mention that the conclusions of the mission sent to Nagorno-Karabakh do not reflect the views of its members. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, during a Q&A session with the government at the National Assembly.

The delayed UN mission reached Artsakh on October 1, when the region had already been depopulated. On October 2, the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, announced that within a day, the UN mission found no signs of destruction of civilian infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, and had not received any reports of violence against civilians. They also did not discover dead livestock or destruction of agricultural infrastructure.

“As far as I know, a statement from the relevant agency of the UN is being prepared regarding the fact that the conclusions of the mentioned mission do not belong to the UN. At least, this is the assurance given to me. Let’s wait and see,” added Mirzoyan.

He reiterated that Armenia has been appealing to the UN for months, demanding a response and intervention from international organizations, primarily the UN and its agencies. Armenian authorities once again emphasize that international organizations have unfortunately not provided adequate responses.

“I want to express hope that the UN will express its assessment, although belatedly,” said Mirzoyan.
