Students from Artsakh Can Continue Their Education in Armenian Universities

Students forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh can continue their education in Armenian universities. This information was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia.

A circular letter has been sent by the Committee of Higher Education and Science of the Ministry to the heads of institutions implementing higher education programs.

"To ensure the continuity and uninterrupted education of forcibly displaced students, it is proposed to engage these students in educational processes according to their applications, by enrolling them in the relevant courses with the respective specialties (educational programs). Students should be enrolled regardless of the presence of documents at the time of application, the number of places established by the license for that specialty (educational program), credit differences (subject differences and academic debts), showing a situational or individual approach as necessary," the circular states.

Higher education institutions are required to keep a record of these students, submitting data on a weekly basis to the Committee of Higher Education and Science to ensure proper documentation and full integration later on.

It is noted that necessary steps will be taken before the start of the exam period to ensure the availability of relevant documents, as well as to set new regulations in the processes of transferring students, as needed.

Support programs for students forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh are also under discussion, with additional information to be provided on this matter.

Universities have been suggested to consider opportunities for the integration of students from displaced families, as well as psychological and educational support programs alongside the educational process, and to implement non-formal educational initiatives either through their relevant departments or in collaboration with other universities.
