Hundreds of Thousands Gather in Central Warsaw

Hundreds of thousands of people gathered today in central Warsaw to participate in a rally organized by opposition leader Donald Tusk. Parliamentary elections are set to take place in two weeks, marking a crucial turning point that could significantly impact Poland's political direction and its role in Europe, as reported by The Guardian.

Tusk stated that victory is already within reach: “A pivotal moment is approaching in the history of our homeland. Let no one in the ruling team be under any illusion. Change for the better is inevitable.”

The opposition leader claimed that more than one million people participated in the rally, while the Warsaw police reported the attendance at 100,000. Other media outlets estimate attendance between 600,000 and 800,000.

Traffic in the center of Poland’s capital was halted as large groups of people, waving Polish and EU flags, marched through the streets. They also carried humorous and indignant banners targeting the ruling Law and Justice party.

“No one believed that such a crowd and such emotions could happen again in our history. This is a sign of a great Polish renaissance,” said Tusk.

Donald Tusk served as Poland's Prime Minister from 2007 to 2014 before leaving the country to become the President of the European Council. He has returned to Polish politics to lead the opposition campaign, which he describes as the last opportunity to save Polish democracy.
