Video: Large-Scale Anti-Government Protests Begin in Tel Aviv

Dozens of thousands of protesters have gathered in the center of Tel Aviv and other cities for the 39th consecutive Saturday against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's judicial reforms and the general rise in anti-government sentiments. This was reported by a correspondent for РИА Новости.

Massive demonstrations took place despite the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles, one of the main holidays in Judaism, which is celebrated during these days. In Tel Aviv, a small group of protesters briefly managed to block the city’s central highway by setting up a festive tent on the road. According to media reports, the police issued fines for this action.

This Saturday, the organizers of the protests traditionally announced that actions would take place in dozens of locations across Israel, including major cities. According to estimates by the Israeli company Crowd Solutions, which studies crowd behavior at public events, about 85,000 people gathered for the main demonstration on Kaplan Street in Tel Aviv. The most massive protests against judicial reforms previously drew up to 200,000 protesters in Tel Aviv.
