VIDEO: 'I suffered for 7 days without food and water, they tore my passport and documents' – Azerbaijani forces captured an elderly woman from Artsakh
Factor.am has conducted an interview in Goris with an elderly woman from Artsakh who was captured and subjected to violence by Azerbaijani soldiers.
“I was in my house, in the garden, when I heard a loud noise. Azerbaijani soldiers came to me with their automatic weapons, grabbed my arms, threw me into a vehicle, and took me to Kelbajar. They asked if I had a son, and I said no. They said, ‘You have killed a Turk,’ and I replied, ‘No, I don’t even have an automatic weapon.’ They called their commander and said, ‘We should kill this Armenian woman, she is about 60-62 years old,’ but he said, ‘No, we don’t kill women and elderly people. Just kill those who resist.’ After that, they took me to a hideout, they beat me with an automatic weapon so hard that I had bruises all over.'
“On the night of the 10th day, they came and told me to get up. They shoved me into a vehicle and brought me to Getavan, where the Red Cross picked me up and transported me to Stepanakert. I suffered for 7 days without food and water; they tore my passport and all my documents,” recounts the elderly woman from the village of Khankavan in Martakert, who was captured by Azerbaijani forces.
