Which Region Has How Many Displaced Artsakh Residents Settled?
The government of Armenia has allocated 360 million drams from the reserve fund to regional administrations to cover the necessary expenses for citizens forcibly displaced from Artsakh to Armenia by the end of September 2023.
In an interview with MediaHub, Shirak Province Governor Musheg Muradyan mentioned that around 900 displaced Artsakh residents have been transferred to the region thus far. “Most are living in rented accommodation, but for those who cannot afford rent, we have provided accommodation—at the Toros camp, in guesthouses, and in areas adjacent to the Shirak Football Club stadium,” he said. “There are no issues with food provision at this time; we are managing. We will use the funds provided by the government primarily for urgent needs,” added Muradyan.
Aramavir Province Governor Edward Hovhannisyan also reported that as of 10:00 AM today, 432 families—totaling 1,772 individuals—have been relocated to Aramavir from Artsakh. “There are few who are living in rentals; mostly houses are being provided,” he noted.
Aragatsotn Province Governor Sergey Movsisyan announced that more than 1,000 displaced residents from Artsakh have settled in the region. “We have tried to distribute them evenly across the entire province, but mostly they have settled in the city of Ashtarak and surrounding villages. The primary concern is food supply, which is being addressed with the funds provided by the government. I cannot say anything about those living in rentals, as if they are living on rent, they have not approached us; they simply came and found accommodation. In all other cases, we are providing housing and ensuring they have all necessary conditions,” he stated.
In Gegharkunik Province, the number of forcibly displaced residents exceeds 2,000. Governor Karen Sargsyan mentioned that most of the Artsakh residents have settled in Martuni. “We will soon increase the available spots by another 1,000; we are currently conducting another inventory to accommodate a larger influx. As of my information, there are no individuals who have rented houses themselves,” he said.
It should be recalled that 88,780 individuals forcibly displaced from Artsakh had reached the Republic of Armenia by 10:00 AM.
