The Mother Armenia Alliance Proposes New Elections for Yerevan City Council

The Mother Armenia Alliance has issued a statement which, in particular, states:

"The Mother Armenia Alliance, fully committed to its declared principles, particularly aims to achieve full regime change and the formation of new national authorities. The elections for the Yerevan City Council are viewed as a starting step towards this goal, for which we have received invaluable trust from our fellow citizens. We believe that consensus in the non-governmental sector is the only condition under which it is possible to remove the power of the Civil Contract party.

In light of the necessity of acting honestly with our society, we urge the parties that have declared themselves as opposition to make unequivocal statements and positions in the aftermath of the city council elections. Such clarity would leave no room for various interpretations and would enable us to collectively work to exclude the reproduction of the current government.

In the absence of consensus, the holding of new elections for the Yerevan City Council through non-participation in the meeting and the failure to secure a quorum remains the only solution to the created situation."
