Baku Sees No Need for International Monitoring Mission in Artsakh, Says Hajiev

The Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiev, has stated that Baku does not see the necessity for an international monitoring mission regarding Artsakh. "There is no need for any international monitoring mission as the realities on the ground are evident," Hajiev said in an interview with Deutsche Welle, adding that Azerbaijan has nothing to hide.

Hajiev further stated that Azerbaijan has always opposed any geopolitical competition in the South Caucasus. He also called for the region not to be viewed through the lens of geopolitical rivalry.

It is worth noting that Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack on Artsakh on September 19. The Azerbaijani armed forces violated the ceasefire along the entire contact line, delivering missile and artillery strikes. As a result of the Azerbaijani aggression, there have been at least 200 casualties and over 400 injuries.
