U.S. Assistant Secretary of State and USAID Director Visit Armenia
Today, Samantha Power, the Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), arrived in Armenia to reaffirm U.S. support for the country’s sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and democracy, as well as to take steps to address the humanitarian needs arising from recent violence in Nagorno-Karabakh. This information was communicated by the U.S. Embassy.
Director Power is accompanied in Armenia by Yuri Kim, the Acting Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
“The United States continues to support Armenia’s efforts to establish dignified and lasting peace in the region. The United States is deeply concerned by reports of the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and calls for unimpeded access for international humanitarian organizations and commercial transport,” the statement emphasized.
