Igor Karapetyan Injured by Stun Grenade

On September 19, a stun grenade used by the police fell at the feet of taekwondo champion Igor Karapetyan, inflicting serious bodily harm on him.

ArmSport contacted the athlete, whose family members are currently in Stepanakert, while he has already undergone several surgeries here.

"I'm still in the hospital as I need to be examined and bandaged every day. The injuries are quite deep; I have second-degree burns, muscle structure damage, and there were open wounds in the groin area, all of which require long-term treatment," Igor Karapetyan told us in an interview.

It is noteworthy that earlier reports indicated that Igor had been standing with his back turned and did not see the stun grenade thrown at him, leading to his injury. Igor Karapetyan's father was killed in the 44-day war of 2020.
