A Resident of Vardadzor: 'Azerbaijanis Entered the Village, Executed a Couple in Their Home, Then Killed Their Son Who Came to Find Them'

A resident of Vardadzor village in the Martakert region has recounted to Aravot.am that despite the village being evacuated, some residents refused to leave.

“Later we learned that Azerbaijanis had entered the village and executed a family in their home. They were a couple. The Azerbaijanis ordered the husband and wife to come out of the house. They refused. They were killed on the spot. Then the son of the deceased came to take his parents, not knowing they had been killed, and he was also shot by the Azerbaijanis right there in the car,” the source told the media outlet.

According to the villagers' information, five civilians have been killed in Vardadzor. The village has been evacuated to Stepanakert. The resident added that gunfire can still be heard in Stepanakert: “But my sons are still at the Martakert positions. I spoke with my son a few hours ago; he said, 'We are in position, there is no order to retreat.'”
