ICRC Begins Registering Individuals Searching for Children and Relatives in Nagorno-Karabakh

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) teams have begun registering individuals in Nagorno-Karabakh who are searching for their children or have lost contact with relatives. This was reported by the ICRC office in Armenia, which added that residents have also requested the committee's assistance in recovering the bodies of deceased relatives.

According to their announcement, as of September 22, ICRC teams have facilitated the transfer of nine civilians injured during the last military operations. The committee noted that although a ceasefire was declared on September 20, the military actions have left significant consequences. Communities have been displaced, relatives have lost contact with one another, and those injured during the combat are still in need of assistance.

“On September 18, the ICRC organized the simultaneous transport of wheat flour and essential medical supplies through the Lachin corridor and the Aghdam road for the first time. Throughout the week, including on September 22, medical supplies were provided to military and civilian hospitals, 28,000 baby diapers were distributed, 200 warm blankets were provided to shelters for internally displaced persons, 1,000 liters of diesel fuel were donated to the largest medical center to ensure the uninterrupted operation of generators, and 500 liters of diesel fuel were supplied to the Water Committee to organize the city's water supply through electric generators,” the ICRC mentioned, emphasizing that in recent months, due to the severe humanitarian situation in the region, essential food and healthcare services have been nearly inaccessible.

The ICRC plans to increase the volume of its support and is negotiating with decision-makers regarding the supply of food and hygiene items.
