EU and US Bring Destabilization to the South Caucasus, Lavrov Says
The EU and the US are destabilizing the situation in the South Caucasus by trying to impose their mediation efforts on Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a meeting of the UN General Assembly.
"Now that the leaders of Yerevan and Baku have resolved the issue of mutual recognition of the sovereignty of the two countries, it is time for peaceful living, its establishment, and strengthening of trust," he said.
According to Lavrov, the Russian peacekeeping contingent will contribute to this in every way.
On September 19, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack on the Republic of Artsakh. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense claimed that "civilian population and civilian infrastructure objects are not targets, only military targets are being removed from action."
According to the latest data, there are 200 casualties (10 civilians, including 5 children) and 400 injured (40 civilians, including 13 children) as a result of Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh.
