What Was Discussed in Yevlakh
After yesterday's meeting between the Azerbaijani and Artsakh delegations in Yevlakh, Baku announced: "Discussions were held on the restoration of infrastructure, the reintegration of the Armenian population of Artsakh, and the organization of the activities of the Armenian population of Artsakh based on the Constitution and laws of Azerbaijan."
According to the newspaper "Hayastan", primarily humanitarian issues were discussed, with no significant attention given to the most crucial issue regarding the future of the people of Artsakh. According to Baku, the request of the Armenians of Artsakh for humanitarian aid in the form of food and fuel has been accepted.
Sources from Artsakh indicate that priority discussions revolved around the retrieval of bodies of those killed in recent days and their return to relatives, as well as theoretical issues related to humanitarian problems.
In Artsakh, it is believed that Azerbaijan did not address a critical issue for a reason, as the issue of Artsakh was to be discussed in the UN Security Council in the coming hours. It is noteworthy that the Azerbaijani side was represented by Ramin Mamedov, the deputy of Aliyev's special representative, Bashir Hajiyev, and Ilkin Sultanov.
The Artsakh delegation included Sergey Martirosyan, the deputy secretary of the Security Council, who has previously been a negotiator for Artsakh and has close ties with Russian peacekeepers. His son is among those missing from the 44-day war, as well as National Assembly member David Melkumyan.
Initially, it was decided to send Minister of State Arthur Harutyunyan to negotiate, but Azerbaijan rejected his candidacy. A representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent also participated in the meeting.
