Mesrop Arakelyan Appeals to the Head of the NSS
Political figures, especially state officials, must be accountable for their actions and words. This was stated by Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the 'Living Country' party.
In recent months, a number of high-ranking officials in the Republic of Armenia have been consistently asserting, particularly in recent days, through interviews, speeches, and posts on the 'Facebook' social network, that there are foreign agents in the Republic of Armenia who aim to harm the sovereignty of the country.
According to these interviews, speeches, and posts, these individuals are engaged in politics and their political activities are characterized as agent-like behavior. Similar articles are being published in media outlets aligned with the authorities.
Numerous such posts are being made by users supporting the government on 'Facebook' social network. In this context, I have approached the head of the NSS, asking whether:
- The authors of the mentioned interviews, speeches, and posts have been interrogated, considering that espionage is a crime as per the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
- Is there any information available regarding the existence of foreign agents among political and social figures in the Republic of Armenia?
At the same time, I requested information on whether any potential treasonous and/or espionage activities of individuals occupying high positions in the executive and legislative bodies of the Republic of Armenia have been verified.
