Surén Petrosyan and a Group of Citizens Declare Hunger Strike

The leader of the "Democratic Alliance" party, Surén Petrosyan, along with a group of citizens, announced a mass hunger strike in front of the National Assembly as part of a protest action near the statue of Garegin Nzhdeh, demanding solidarity for the salvation of Armenia and Artsakh from the spiritual class, intellectuals, and political figures.

"We are here to talk about what needs to be done and to take decisive action, bearing full responsibility in all possible situations. There will be no retreat. If you are aware, battles are already taking place in Stepanakert. There are two options here: one is to reconcile, to surrender, and the other is to fight. We have been continuously frightened that if we take action, war threatens us all. This is the greatest lie. There is something more terrifying than war: being slaughtered defenselessly. This is now a nationwide struggle; it is not merely a struggle of political powers. This is a national crisis, and all layers of society must be involved in the fight," Petrosyan stated.

He assured that there would be no return to the previous regime as a result of any changes. "We will move from here to the statue of Garegin Nzhdeh and at this moment declare a mass hunger strike, the purpose of which is not to demand something from those in power, but rather that the clergymen, including the Catholicos, and all intellectuals, representatives from different layers of society should come together and a solution should be found. Everyone should participate in this struggle. The goal of the hunger strike is to gather everyone in one place," Surén Petrosyan announced, adding that after this unity, there would be specific actions.
