Russia Did Not Assist in Reforming Our Army. There Is Another Way. Armen Grigoryan
Our ally Russia had the opportunity to help us from 2020 to 2022, but did not assist. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, during a broadcast on Public Television.
According to him, after the April Four-Day War in 2016, Armenia is slipping into deep conflicts, creating security challenges that could 'force Armenia to renounce its sovereignty.' For 2-3 years, the main thesis in Armenia has been that it is supposedly unable to ensure its own security, hence Armenia should not have independence and should be part of a union. That is the entire idea,' said Grigoryan.
He noted that Armenia is centered on Armenia and has not changed its foreign policy. 'We are also cooperating with India. You know what kind of serious security cooperation we have; are we moving towards the West or to India? We are on the path to enhancing our sovereignty. Since January-February 2021, Armenia has been cooperating with Russia so that our defense ministries reform our army in close collaboration. After that, there were attacks from Azerbaijan in May and November, and Russia seemed to refuse this assistance. Our experience has also shown that there is another way, which is the reform of the Armed Forces of Armenia, which is progressing intensively. We have the opportunity to strengthen our army by finding other partners, such as India, which is very willing to help Armenia,' said Armen Grigoryan.
