“People are scared, willing to enter the base, even lie on the asphalt”: a resident of Artsakh
Numerous residents of Artsakh have gathered near the Russian peacekeeping forces' deployment point, in the vicinity of Stepanakert Airport, after being displaced from their homes, which have come under the control of the Azerbaijani armed forces. One resident, who chose to remain anonymous, told NEWS.am that the peacekeeping command has only managed to accommodate a portion of the citizens at their base, leaving others outside.
“People are scared, willing to enter the base, even lie on the asphalt, just to be under Russian protection, but they are unable to get inside. One woman went back for her belongings and could not return; we had to take the children out as well,” he recounted.
Residents of Artsakh are in a state of uncertainty, with no information provided regarding the possibility of evacuation. The interlocutor mentioned that rumors are circulating among people that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is unwilling to accept those displaced from Artsakh into Armenia.
