What is the Situation in Stepanakert? A Resident Reports
The shelling and gunfire around Stepanakert have ceased. This was reported by journalist and Stepanakert resident Gayane Gevorgyan during a conversation with an Armenpress correspondent, adding that there has been no audible shelling or gunfire since 1:00 PM.
“People are still hesitant to leave the shelters; only a few are outside for fresh air,” Gevorgyan noted.
She also recounted that an explosion occurred near their home on the evening of September 19, and fortunately, they managed to escape. Only their house suffered damage, after which they took refuge with the children in the basement of a relatively safe nearby house.
It is worth mentioning that on September 19, Azerbaijan commenced large-scale military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh. Following numerous destructions and human losses, an agreement was reached with the mediation of the Russian peacekeeping command stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh to completely halt military operations starting from 1:00 PM on September 20. The Artsakh President's administration also announced that a meeting is scheduled on September 21 in Evlakh between representatives of the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan.
