Measures Taken to Arrest Organizers and Participants of Mass Disturbances: Investigative Committee

The Police Department of Yerevan has received a report concerning a gathering that took place on September 19, 2023, at Republic Square in Yerevan. Around 6:00 PM, following public calls for mass disturbances made by the organizers of the rally, participants approached the entrance of the Government building located at 1 Government House, disregarding the lawful demands presented by the police, and began committing acts that threaten public safety.

"These actions were accompanied by violence against police officers performing their duties, involving kicks and punches, as well as throwing various objects at them. Following the received report, the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal proceeding in accordance with the characteristics of Part 1 of Article 327 and Part 3, Point 1 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. An investigation is ongoing. Relevant video recordings circulated on social media are being examined. Measures are being taken to identify the organizers and participants of the mass disturbances in order to arrest them," the statement from the Investigative Committee reads.
