Police Received 30 Reports, 3 of Which Involve Crimes: Armen Mkrtchyan
On the day of the elections, from 08:00 until their completion at 20:00, the police received 30 reports, of which 3 pertained to criminal activity. This was stated by Armen Mkrtchyan, head of the police headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
These reports have been forwarded to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia to discuss starting proceedings, while the remaining 27 did not contain characteristics of a crime and are being verified by the police.
As previously reported, the Working Group operating in the Office of the Prosecutor General has summarized the results relating to reported electoral crimes that occurred during the voting period for the Yerevan City Council elections on September 17, from 08:00 to 20:00. During this period, a total of 22 reports and alerts that had undergone preliminary examination were processed, of which 7 were media publications, 2 were posts on social networks, 4 were from observing missions, 4 from individuals, 2 from the chair of the election precinct commission, and 3 were reports made by police employees.
Of the 22 reports concerning alleged electoral violations, 13, which were abstract and general in nature, were sent to the Armenian police for necessary verification actions to be carried out.
