Data of 225 Deceased Individuals Found in Voter Lists

The Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia has identified 381 inaccuracies in the voter lists as a result of inspections, among which data of 225 deceased individuals were found. This information was announced today during a press conference by the head of the service, Armen Ghazaryan.

He explained under what circumstances the data of deceased individuals remain in the voter lists. “If a citizen dies outside the territory of Armenia, it is necessary for their relatives to obtain a death certificate here after the transportation of the body. If they obtain that certificate, such inaccuracies do not occur. However, there are cases where relatives come, conduct the burial but do not obtain the death certificate. In such cases, we can have similar situations,” Ghazaryan noted.

He also mentioned that the remaining inaccuracies were of a technical nature (for example, an individual did not find their name-surname in the voter list), and those have also been corrected.
