Ukrainian Military Commissioner Reveals Armed Forces Casualties
The head of the Poltava regional military commissariat, Lieutenant Colonel Vitaliy Berezhniy, has disclosed the casualty figures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the past year of the Russo-Ukrainian war. The figures were presented at a session of the Poltava City Council and circulated by Ukrainian media.
According to Berezhniy, during the autumn mobilization of 2022, for every 100 mobilized individuals, only 10-20 remain alive. "At this point, military formations fulfilling their tasks require not only material support—like vehicles and other supplies—but primarily reinforcement. Among the units formed last autumn, consisting of up to 100 individuals, only 10-20 personnel from each unit are currently fulfilling their duties," he stated.
He noted that the remaining defenders are either deceased, wounded, incapacitated, or unable to perform missions in certain directions.
Ukrainian media reports that information in Ukraine is a state secret and is kept confidential during wartime. The head of the Ministry of Defense's Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, also stated that there are many casualties in the war, and accepting this reality is not easy.
