"Grains Cannot Be a Tool of War": Hungary's Minister of Agriculture

Hungary's Minister of Agriculture István Nagy commented on the situation regarding the export of grain from Ukraine to Asian and African countries, stating that grain should not become an element of war. He made these remarks in an interview with Vilag Gazdasag magazine.

"All participants in the international community must understand that grain cannot be a tool of war. Its absence leads to starvation, which results in new wars," he said.

According to him, it is essential that grain is supplied to areas where it is a source of life. He pointed out that if there is a shortage of grain in poor countries, it could lead to famine, resulting in new waves of migration and unpredictable consequences. "If grain cannot travel through other means, then the European internal market will be severely affected," Nagy noted.

He also mentioned that Hungary has imposed a ban on the import of grain from Ukraine, as well as 20 types of agricultural products, since low-priced supplies are harming local farmers.
