Bangladeshi and Turkish Citizens Arrested While Crossing Armenian-Turkish Border

Three foreign nationals have been arrested for attempting to illegally cross the Armenia-Turkey border. In response to a request for information from Sputnik Armenia, the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia confirmed the details of the arrests.

It was also announced that a criminal case has been initiated at the investigative department of the NSS regarding the illegal attempt by two foreign citizens to cross the Armenian-Turkish state border in the Ararat region. Additionally, another case has been initiated in the Armavir region related to a pedestrian crossing the state border of Armenia "without required documentation and proper permission." This incident occurred on August 20.

According to reports, in the first case in early September, Russian border guards arrested two citizens of Bangladesh near the village of Burastan, who attempted to cross from Armenia into Turkey. In the second case, a citizen of Turkey attempted to enter Armenia from Turkey and was apprehended near the village of Berkashat.

At the end of July, a citizen of Syria was arrested while attempting to illegally cross the border. Under an intergovernmental agreement, the Border Guard Department of the Russian Federal Security Service is responsible for protecting the state border of Armenia with Turkey and Iran.
