Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff Reports Capture of Andreevka Near Bakhmut

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports the capture of the village of Andreevka, located near Bakhmut. 

"During offensive operations, our forces have achieved partial success near Klishcheivka and have captured Andreevka," the statement says. This is the first settlement near Bakhmut that the Ukrainians have been able to regain. In the spring, the Russians, with the involvement of the Wagner private military company, captured this area following bloody battles.

Klishcheivka and Andreevka are located just a few kilometers south of the ruins of Bakhmut. Since the beginning of summer, the Ukrainian army has been trying to encircle Bakhmut, the capture of which the Russians have called a significant military achievement.

It was previously reported that Ukraine announced the capture of a village from the Bakhmut area while heavy fighting continues on the other side. Several Russian military Telegram channels reported yesterday that Russian forces had abandoned both Andreevka and Klishcheivka. However, they insisted that these two destroyed settlements are in a "gray zone" and are not controlled by either the Russians or the Ukrainians.
